FIELD (research) and FIELDWORK (practice)
a collaboration between USHIDA FINDLAY ARCHITECTS (Tokyo/London) & the University of Dundee School of Architecture (UK) the purpose of FIELDWORK was to take on commissioned design projects and competitions with a principled research agenda. a live architectural practice was physically established within a dedicated studio space within the school of architecture. Fieldwork supervised postgraduate students pursuing research through the methodology of design. This research collaboration engaged in 5 principle activities: 1 the execution of exceptional architectural projects (FIELDWORK) 2 the running of a Master Studio Unit (FIELD) within the school of Architecture Masters Programme 3 the supervision of PHD projects associated to the work generated through FIELD and FIELDWORK 4 establishment of University Masters & Doctorate Research projects directly linked to the active architectural projects 5 publication/exhibition & lectures generated from both the design projects and the associated research projects |
